It’s Monday again, and I’ve got another glittery festive manicure to cheer you up!
Behind the door of my nail art advent calendar today is an angel
Angels are seen everywhere this time of year – on your tree, on your Christmas cake. This is because angels are a really important part of Christmas.
Two thousand (and a bit) years ago, an angel called Gabriel appeared to a girl called Mary and told her that she was going give birth to a son whom she must call Jesus, as he would be the Son of God and that he would reign throughout the world.
Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”
“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[b] the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.”
“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. – Luke 1 v 26-28
I can’t even imagine how terrified Mary must have felt at being told this, but she went on to be the most admired and loved women in history.
This is quite a long tutorial, but stick with it and just take one step at a time!
And here’s the final manicure! I painted my other nails with one coat of Barry M Foil Effects Gold and one coat of Barry M Gold Glitter to give the angel a real royal and regal look.
I hope you like this cute festive manicure today, and please send me a picture to @shewhodoesnails on Twitter or Instagram if you give it a go!
