Day 4 of the 30 Day Challenge: Green nails

GREEN. If you don’t know already, green is my favourite colour in the whole wide world, so I was very pleased with the theme of ‘Green nails’!

Now I’m going to be honest with you, I did actually go out and buy this polish especially for this day…I know, I know, it’s supposed to be an ‘untrieds’ challenge, but I surprisingly don’t have many greens, and I’ve tried all the ones I have so I thought I would buy myself a new untried ;)

The new green I bought was Barry M’s Spring Green and I think it is actually now my favourite green I own. It is a really bright grass green creme polish that have a nice consistency and was opaque in only two coats.

I was thinking about doing some floral stamping over this colour, but loved it too much and I didn’t want to cover it up. So I was going to just leave it as it was but I remembered my Nails Inc Piccadilly Arcade and thought that it would probably be a pretty good colour match. So I got it out, and I was right :)

I used Nails Inc Piccadilly Arcade as a topcoat on my ring finger to create an accent nail. Hope you like it :)

For this manicure I used:
  • Sally Hansen – Maximum Growth
  • Barry M – Spring Green
  • Nails Inc – Piccadilly Arcade
  • Sally Hansen – Insta-Dri

Day 3 of the 30 Day Challenge: Yellow nails

Morning all! Today is Day 3 of the 30 Day Challenge I’m doing and the theme is ‘Yellow nails’.

My first instinct was to think of something yellow, but as I have done something similar to that for the past few days I thought I would try something different. So I give you – yellow nails with black bows! I really need to start being more creative with names for my manicures…

I really am not a fan of yellow nail polish in general as it does not suit my skin tone in the slightest as i am so pale. I can get away with pale yellows (sort of) so Barry M’s Lemon Ice Cream would have been perfect, but I’ve already used that so I reached for the only other yellow I have… Barry M Yellow. As you can see, they were about as adventurous with names for this one as I am generally am.

Barry M Yellow is a really vivid yellow creme polish that actually covers to opaque in only two coats which really surprised me, and the application was just as delightful as Barry M polishes always are. The colour however really is not my cup of tea.

For the nail art deco, I decided to use Konad Special Polish Black to stamp little bows from one of my cheeky plates. This was relatively easy, although I think I lost marks on aligning them properly.

It didn’t really seem finished when I had done the stamping, so I stuck little black rhinestones onto the centres of the bows, which made a nice difference.

Overall, these nails are yellow. Really not sure I can give any further positive assessment. The colour really doesn’t suit me and I was quite quick to take this manicure off!

For this manicure I used:
  • Sally Hansen – Maximum Growth
  • Barry M – Yellow
  • Konad Special Polish – Black
  • Cheeky Mega Image Plate A
  • Sally Hansen – Insta-Dri

Day 2 of the 30 Day Challenge: Orange nails

Today is day two of the 30 Day Challenge that I’m doing with a few of my blogging friends, and the theme is ‘Orange nails’.

Obviously when thinking of orange coloured things, the first thing that comes into your head is….an orange. I knew I had a few fruity stamping images, so I pleased to find that I had one of an orange’s cross-section.

As for the polishes used, I only have one untried orange which is Rimmel’s Tangy Tangerine. It’s a lovely pale peach creme that I thought would go really nicely with Barry M’s Block Orange.

I decided to do a full coat of the Rimmel Tangy Tangerine as I thought Block Orange would stamp over it better than the other way around. Tangy Tangerine was actually really easy to use it and didn’t really require much cleaning up at all. It has a wide, flat brush and a small brush handle making it easier for my little hands to hold. It did take three coats to get it opaque though and it could have done with another coat probably. A bit annoying, as it made the nails look quite thick :(

Barry M Block Orange stamped really quite well on the top which was pleasing! I really like the overall effect, although I wish I had only down two orange stamps on my index finger!

For this manicure I used:
  • Sally Hansen – Maximum Growth
  • Barry M – Block Orange
  • Rimmel – Tangy Tangerine
  • Cheeky Mega Image Plate B
  • Sally Hansen – Insta-Dri

Back to school!

So today is the start of Rachel’s 30 Day Challenge, and I thought it sounded like great fun! The idea is that there is a theme for each day of this month that you must make a manicure around, using untried polishes where you can (that is, polishes you haven’t used before).

Today’s theme is ‘Red Nails’ so I dug through my polish box and found Bourjois Rouge Escarpin, a polish I had bought some time ago but have never used. I knew that I didn’t want to just paint my nails with this colour, so I looked through my new stamping plates to see what a could find. The apple was the first red thing I spotted and I thought it would be a cool idea to do a ‘Back to school’ theme.

What do you think?! I think it turned out pretty cool :)

I painted three fingers and my thumb with the Bourjois, and my ring finger with Barry M Matt White. I then stamped the apple using the Bourjois which worked surprisingly well! I then used a tiny paintbrush to dab bits of green glitter from Nails Inc Piccadilly Arcade onto the lead of the apple. I stamped the ABC using another of Cheeky’s stamping plates and Konad Special Polish.

Tomorrow’s theme is ‘Orange Nails’ so I’m starting to conjure up ideas for that already…

For this manicure I used:
  • Sally Hansen – Maximum Growth
  • Bourjois – So Laque! – Rouge escarpin 24
  • Barry M – Matt White
  • Nails Inc – Piccadilly Arcade
  • Konad Special Polish – White
  • Cheeky Mega Image Plate A
  • Cheeky Mega Image Plate B
  • Sally Hansen – Insta-Dri
