Golden Chevrons

I’m not going to lie, I’m really not that good at abstract nail art. I just don’t find it very inspiring and find it hard to come up with an idea I actually like. I guess it’s just not cute enough.

Having said that, I thought I should just try, just once. Here we have my glittery golden chevrons!

Review: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Red Carpet

Talk about ruby slippers! How gorgeous is this?!

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in shade Red Carpet is another polish which I bought during my business trip to Utah. It is quite a bright red polish packed with tiny red glitter. The glitter is so fine though, that I still managed to get a completely smooth surface with just one topcoat.

Jewels in the Sea

Something a little more abstract from me today! I realised that I haven’t done any stamping for ages  and couldn’t resist pulling the glitter out too, so here is something a little less inspired and a little more puzzle-like. I actually had quite a lot of fun doing this one!

Jewels in the sea nails

I started by painting my nails with two coats of Sally Hansen’s Lustre Shine in Azure, and after that had completely dried, I used a Cheeky stamping plate with Barry M Foil Effects Silver to stamp on the wavey pattern. I then used a toothpick dipped in clear nail polish to place on the little bits of silver glitter to give it that last touch of glam!

I love how this mix of colours works so well. The Sally Hansen Azure changes from blue to purple as you move your hand, which compliments the twinkle of the glitter and the silver wave!

Review: Golden Rose Holiday 55

Today I have another treat for you from sunny sunny Turkey!

This horrid weather in the UK is making me daydream of the warm skies and blue seas of our honeymoon, so what better way to reminisce than with a polish I bought when I was out there!
This wonderful sparkly glitter bomb is Golden Rose Holiday 55. It really is quite magnificent,  a cool water blue fine glittery/grainy polish with hints of silver glitter mixed within.

Golden Rose Holiday 55 Nail Polish

This baby is opaque like this in just two coats, which is extraordinary for a glitter polish. The bottle is so jam packed with glittery bits though, that it fills the nail quickly and evenly.
It isn’t a smooth finish which I quite like and leaves you with almost a sandy feel – the perfect colour and texture to make you think of a holiday.
Golden Rose Holiday 55 is one of their Holiday collection which is a wonderful set of shimmery polishes – it was so hard to choose! I did buy two more though – a pinky purple and an orangey red – so keep an eye out for those posts to appear here soon!
I bought Golden Rose Holiday 55 for 7 Turkish Lira, which is just over £2, a complete bargain as far as I’m concerned! It’s a little bit more tricky to get hold of in the UK, but if you must have it you can find it HERE on Amazon for £7.40.

Review: Golden Rose Jolly Jewels 106

Good morning all!

Today I have for you a polish that I found in a tiny shop on our honeymoon last month!

We spent almost two weeks in Marmaris, Turkey, and had the most amazing time! Marmaris is the home of the second largest bazaar in Turkey, so needless to stay I did spend a couple of afternoons dragging my new husband around all the shops. Most of them just sold jewellery or handbags, but we did come across one little gem that seemed to sell Turkey’s entire supply of nail polish! There was so much of it! Over the two trips, I managed to walk away with no less than 24 nail polishes, which you’ll see on here over the coming weeks.

This beautiful polish is number Golden Rose Jolly Jewels 106. I was a bit gutted that none of them had proper colour names :(

Review: Golden Rose Jolly Jewels 106

This was one of the first polishes I picked up, as as you know I have a little bit of a thing for glitter. It’s such an unusual mix of colours with purple, gold and green flecks in it! Just so sparkly!

This polish turned out to be a bit two-sided with regard to the application. It was thicker and a bit gloopier than you would usually want from a glitter polish, but there is just so much glitter packed into it that you don’t need more than two coats for a full coverage.

Review: Golden Rose Jolly Jewels 106

As you can see, it really does give the most amazing effect on the nail. The purple, green and gold are so vibrant and bold that it is just so eye catching. I can tell this is going to be a polish that I love wearing around Christmas time, with it’s stylish festive appeal.

I bought this polish for just 7 Turkish Lira, which works out as just over £2 – such a bargain! You can buy this polish HERE on the Golden Rose UK website for only £4.99 though which I think is still quite a good price for such a glitter-packed polish!

Review: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Quick Jeanius

At the beginning of September, I was lucky enough to be sent to Salt Lake City in the USA for work. While out there, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to buy some polishes that it’s hard to get hold of in the UK. Typically of me, 1 or 2 was never going to be enough and I ended up coming home with 28 new nail polishes. They are just so cheap in America that it’s hard to resist!

Today I have one of my favourite polishes to review for you – Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri Quick Jeanius.
Firstly, I am loving the name. Quick Jeanius is perfect for a fast drying denim-coloured polish! Quick Jeanius is a dark, midnight blue metallic polish with little silver flecks in it. A really beautiful polish to add to my collection as winter is on the way.

The shimmer is subtle enough to wear during a casual day, but in the evening it really catches the light and would be wonderful for a glitzy evening out.

As always with the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polishes, the brush is lovely and wide with a rounded end, so you really get good coverage on the nail with only a few brush strokes. I painted two coats for the pictures shown here, but really would have only needed one I think as it is such an opaque polish.

Review: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Quick Jeanius

As you can see it is a really beautiful coloured polish, and not one that I think you in every single brand. It’s not naturally a super shiny polish, so I did have to add a topcoat, but that’s all part of my normal nail care routine anyway!

I also tried adding a matte topcoat over this polish and found that is really made the silver flecks pop! It even made the polish look that like bit more denim-like, so I think this would definitely be a pairing I would make again.

Review: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Quick Jeanius

I bought Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Quick Jeanius from Target for only about $3.49 which is approximately £2.18 which is much cheaper than can get Insta-Dri polishes in the UK!

Do you have any Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polishes?

Review: Pocket Money Polishes – I Put A Spell On You

You might remember the review I did the other day about Pocket Money Polishes‘ Starry, Starry Night by Charlie. She’s just started producing her own nail polishes collections, the first one being called Glitter Babies and is out right now.

Today I have for you another bottle from the collection called I Put A Spell On You. All of Charlie’s polishes are named after songs which is such a novel idea!

I Put A Spell On You is described as ‘Green stars, purple hearts with orange matte squares and a shifting rainbow’, and it looks like the coolest, most haunting polish ever! it has Halloween written all over it.

Pocket Money Polishes - I Put A Spell On You

The application was very even for the orange glitter bits and the holo flecks, but again the stars required a bit of  fishing which I actually quite like as you get to put them exactly where you want them!

This is definitely my favourite polish in the collection as I have never seen anything like it! It looks so cool. In the photos I have layered it over LA Colors Fun In The Sun which is an amazing shade of purple in itself, and it compliments the colours of the glitter so so well.

You can buy I Put A Spell On You from Charlie’s online shop HERE for only £4 for a 5ml bottle. But if you put the code ‘Laura10′ in the comment box on your order, you can receive an extra 10% off your order! They’re limited edition, so grab one while they’re still available!
