Fireworks

It’s Guy Fawkes Night! At least, it will be tonight… For those of you around the world that have no idea what I’m talking about, once a year on 5th November the UK remembers an event in history where a man called Guy Fawkes tried to commit treason and blow up the houses of parliament! Nowadays, we celebrate with fireworks and usually light a bonfire with a man on top, supposedly him!

We have a little rhyme we always say too….

Remember remember the 5th of November,
gun powder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
should ever be forgot!

So today I have a fireworks manicure for you to celebrate this fun and freezing night of the year!

Review: Golden Rose Holiday 55

Today I have another treat for you from sunny sunny Turkey!

This horrid weather in the UK is making me daydream of the warm skies and blue seas of our honeymoon, so what better way to reminisce than with a polish I bought when I was out there!
This wonderful sparkly glitter bomb is Golden Rose Holiday 55. It really is quite magnificent,  a cool water blue fine glittery/grainy polish with hints of silver glitter mixed within.

Golden Rose Holiday 55 Nail Polish

This baby is opaque like this in just two coats, which is extraordinary for a glitter polish. The bottle is so jam packed with glittery bits though, that it fills the nail quickly and evenly.
It isn’t a smooth finish which I quite like and leaves you with almost a sandy feel – the perfect colour and texture to make you think of a holiday.
Golden Rose Holiday 55 is one of their Holiday collection which is a wonderful set of shimmery polishes – it was so hard to choose! I did buy two more though – a pinky purple and an orangey red – so keep an eye out for those posts to appear here soon!
I bought Golden Rose Holiday 55 for 7 Turkish Lira, which is just over £2, a complete bargain as far as I’m concerned! It’s a little bit more tricky to get hold of in the UK, but if you must have it you can find it HERE on Amazon for £7.40.

Review: Golden Rose Jolly Jewels 106

Good morning all!

Today I have for you a polish that I found in a tiny shop on our honeymoon last month!

We spent almost two weeks in Marmaris, Turkey, and had the most amazing time! Marmaris is the home of the second largest bazaar in Turkey, so needless to stay I did spend a couple of afternoons dragging my new husband around all the shops. Most of them just sold jewellery or handbags, but we did come across one little gem that seemed to sell Turkey’s entire supply of nail polish! There was so much of it! Over the two trips, I managed to walk away with no less than 24 nail polishes, which you’ll see on here over the coming weeks.

This beautiful polish is number Golden Rose Jolly Jewels 106. I was a bit gutted that none of them had proper colour names :(

This was one of the first polishes I picked up, as as you know I have a little bit of a thing for glitter. It’s such an unusual mix of colours with purple, gold and green flecks in it! Just so sparkly!

This polish turned out to be a bit two-sided with regard to the application. It was thicker and a bit gloopier than you would usually want from a glitter polish, but there is just so much glitter packed into it that you don’t need more than two coats for a full coverage.

As you can see, it really does give the most amazing effect on the nail. The purple, green and gold are so vibrant and bold that it is just so eye catching. I can tell this is going to be a polish that I love wearing around Christmas time, with it’s stylish festive appeal.

I bought this polish for just 7 Turkish Lira, which works out as just over £2 – such a bargain! You can buy this polish HERE on the Golden Rose UK website for only £4.99 though which I think is still quite a good price for such a glitter-packed polish!
