Fan Me!

Firstly, can I saw how sorry I am for being completely non-existent for a week or so! I have been so unbelievably busy with wedding-y stuff it has been mad. Not long to go now though :)

Today I have another stamping manicure for you today using a polish from the NYC Foil Explosion collection.

Fan Me!

I started by painting my nails with 1 coat of Barry M Plum and after it had dried, I used NYC Power of Elements with Bundle Monster Stamping Plate BM-215 to create the fan pattern over the top of it.

I’m really loving the combo of a matte polish with a metallic polish stamped over it at the moment…. so cute!

I’m starting to think that I need to invest in some new stamping plates as I only have a couple of sets. Do any of you have any suggestions?

Lilac Twinkle

I have so many pots of glequins (chunky pieces of glitter) in my nail art helmer that I feel bad that I don’t use them enough.

True, they are a little time consuming…..but the effect they bring is so pretty, it makes it completely worth it.

So today, I have for you a lilac glequin manicure! LOOK AT IT TWINKLE!

Lilac Twinkle nails

I started by painting my nails with two coats of Angelica Bluebell from their Soft Satin Collection. I picked up this polish a few weeks ago from the Primark on Oxford Street in London for only 2.50 which is a total bargain for such a pretty shade with an almost-matte effect.

I waited until that had dried, and then focusing on one nail at a time, I painted the nail with a clear topcoat (not quick drying!) and quickly positioned all of the glequins on the nail using a toothpick dipped in a bit of clear polish. It’s actually quite quick when you get the hang of it!

This was such a beautiful manicure, I wish I had been able to keep it on for longer. It really did sparkle!

Indigo Flames

Purple mani!! It feels so long since I’ve done a purple mani, which is weird as purple is one of my favourite colours and I have a LOT of purple polishes!

I did these nails while on my lunch break at work. I’ve taken to planning my manicure in the morning and packing a nail kit with all the things I will need and then bringing it to work to do at lunch time! It’s been so great at getting me away from my PC for an hour.

I started by painting a base of Beauty UK Smokey Lilac on three nails, and Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri Grape Escape on my ring finger. I then painted a quick drying topcoat over the lilac nails to make them dry quickly so I could stamp over them without smudging! I used Models Own Boogie Nights to paint over my ring finger – such an amazing glitter! Finally, I used Sally Hansen Grape Escape again and a Bundle Monster stamping plate to stamp that gorgeous flame-like pattern onto my nails.

I love that Models Own glitter so much. I have the whole Mirrorball collection and really feel like I should use them more often!

Hope you’re all having a great Monday!

Review: Angelica Soft Satin Matte Collection

Two weekends ago I spent the day at Westfields shopping centre in London with my hubby-to-be spending my birthday money on LOTS of lovely new polishes. After we had finished, Jack kindly took my shopping home and I went off into Central London for my friend’s hen party! We were supposed to meet in a restaurant just off of Oxford Street and as I arrived really early, I decided to pop into Primark to have a look around.

Just as I walked in the door, I saw a whole stand of Angelica polishes pretty much beckoning me over! Out of all the polishes I could have chosen, I actually only bought five (one whole collection) which I didn’t think was too bad as they were only £2.50 each!

Angelica Soft Satin Matte Collection

The Soft Satin Collection consists of five colours – Au Naturel, Marshmallow, Peppermint, Iced Sorbet and Bluebell. They are all soft of matte, but not quite…it’s a really nice effect! The formula for all of them is the same, nice and thin, which is a really refreshing change (bit sick of having one gloopy polish in a collection). Each of these photos shows just two coats of the polish which was lovely as it didn’t end up leaving the polish too thick on my nails.

The Au Naturel polish of the collection is a beautiful nude beige colour. It would be perfectly professional and plain enough for work, but the satin effect really gives it a nice edgy touch.

Angelica Au Naturel

Marshmallow is a lovely soft pink, actually the palest of all the pinks I own, so I was glad to add it to my collection. It makes me think of ballerinas :)

Angelica Marshmallow

Peppermint is my second favourite polish in this collection – green is my absolute favourite colour ever, especially mint greens. This colour is so smooth and subtle, perfect for the upcoming summer!

Angelica Peppermint

Iced Sorbet is my favourite polish in my collection. “ORANGE?!” I hear you gasp? I absolutely love this soft orange polish. I don’t think I have EVER seen this colour in a polish before. Most oranges are really bright and end up making my skin look really weird, but I love how this looks against my skin.

Angelica Iced Sorbet

Bluebell is definitely the brightest in the collection, a more purple than lilac colour, and is louder than I expected from the bottle. It still looks very pretty as a satin polish though, but probably is my least favourite in the collection.

Angelica Bluebell

You can buy Angelica polishes from big Primark stores for just £2.50 each or from the Angelica website for £2.75!

I actually didn’t realize that they have as many polishes available as they do until I saw the website! There are now so many more that I have my eye on! I love the look of the Two Tones or the Foil Metallics!

It’s my birthday!

It’s my birthday today! Woop!

I hope you’re all having a lovely day today – I’m at work so it’s not too exciting, but Jack and I are going out for dinner tonight :)

Today I have for you bunting nails. These have been quite popula recently and I fancied giving them a go – they are so springy!

Bunting nails

I started by painting my nails with two coats of Barry M Matt White – I seem to be using this polish a lot at the moment! I then painted triangles onto my nails in alternating colours of Topshop Easy Breezy, Rimmel London Tangy Tangerine and Models Own Lilac Dream with a tiny weeny paintbrush. Finally, I used the same paintbrush to outline the triangles using L.A. Colors Black Striper polish.

I’m chuffed to bits with these and love how well they suit the fact that it is my birthday.

Bunting nails
For this manicure I used:
  • OPI – Nail Envy
  • Barry M – Matt White
  • Models Own – Lilac Dream
  • Rimmel London – Tangy Tangerine
  • Topshop – Easy Breezy
  • L.A. Colors – Black Striper
  • Seche Vite – Quick Dry Topcoat

Review: beautyuk Smokey Lilac

I’m baaaacccccckkkkk!
Oh goodness it’s been too long. Wedding planning and work (and general laziness) have prevented me from posting for a while, but I have missed it so much and am so glad to be back painting my nails for you all to see again!

Unfortunately, my nails haven’t coped too well with the harsh weather we’ve had here in London over the last few months, causing them all to break and then I stupidly started biting them again. But thank goodness I came to my senses and stopped biting them, and they are now gradually growing again. So please excuse the shortness of my nails in the posts over the next few weeks.

Today I thought I would start off simple and decided to review a new bottle of polish I have just bought by beautyuk. It’s called Smokey Lilac, and is a really lovely soft colour perfect for the upcoming spring (although it’s hard to believe that it’ll ever arrive!).

beautyuk Smokey Lilac

The colour is really nice and I actually loved it on my skin tone, even though I do tend to prefer brighter colours. The formula is also really quite nice – I mean, it’s very very thin and did require three thick coats, but it dried down relatively thin and didn’t end up looking gloopy on the nail.

I think it would look perfect with silver glitter over it to make it a bit more glitzy – but you know what I’m like!!

beautyuk Smokey Lilac

I bought this polish from Superdrug for only £1.99 which is an absolute bargain, and I’m really tempted to go back and get a couple more from their selection. I especially like the look of their Posh Polish collection. GLITTER!!

Do you own any beautyuk polishes?

For this manicure I used:
  • OPI – Nail Envy
  • beautyuk – Smokey Lilac
  • Seche Vite – Quick Dry Topcoat
