Review: OPI Mariah Carey Liquid Sand Can’t Let Go

This is a press sample.

A while ago I recieved an email from Chemist Direct, asking if I would interested in trying out and reviewing two OPI polishes for them! Of course, I glad to accept as I haven’t tried many OPIs before other than Nail Envy. This afternoon I want to show you one of the two polishes they sent to me!

OPI Liquid Sand Can’t Let Go is a polish from their Mariah Carey collection. I don’t have many textured polishes either so it was an interesting experiment!

Review: Barry M Ridley Road

A couple of days ago I did a review of the lovely Barry M Croc Effects and I mentioned that my friend Sophie had given it to me for my birthday. Well, today I have another polish for you that she gave me! Thanks Sophie!

Barry M Ridley Road is one of four in Barry M’s relatively new textured collection. It’s a beautiful milky green in the bottle, and if it wasn’t for the super stylish lid, you wouldn’t know that it was a textured polish at all!

I wasn’t sure how textured this polish would be and how the application would be as I’ve never experienced these kinds of polishes before, but I was nicely surprised to find it very easy and very smooth to apply. It took two coats to get to the opacity and textured-ness (new word!) shown in my photos, but could probably have done with one more coat to hide the remainder of my white tips which I didn’t notice until I got my nails under my bright light.

The effect on the nail can only really be described as peculiar but pleasant. The texture is really bizarre to have on nails, but it was quite nice to just sit there and run my fingers over it. Given enough time, I probably could have smoothed it down completely with just my fingertips haha!

The colour is really pretty – you know what I’m like with my greens! Sophie guessed well as this is the polish out of the four I would have picked! It’s a lovely springtime green.

I wondered how it would look to stamp over the textured polish, so in keeping with the spring look I stamped this lovely Cheeky floral pattern over it using Konad Special Polish in White. The pattern looks a little pale (due to my white colour choice), but the stamping took so well to the textured polish! I love how cool this looks!

You can buy Barry M Ridley Road as well as the other textured polishes from the collection from Boots or Superdrug stores, as well as from the Barry M website for only £3.99 each.

Do you have any of the Barry M textured collection?
